Bulgarian socks (chorapi), are traditionally knit of wool, sometimes cotton. Stage costume socks are often acrylic. Most of our socks are new, knit in wool by craftswomen, using traditional patterns. 

Bulgarian chorapi can be worn with a folk costume.  The colorful socks can also be enjoyed every day for warmth. Cross-country ski wear? house slippers?

Handknit socks like these rarely show a size tag. We compare the chorapi to store-bought US ladies' socks which say "fits 9-11."  We'll note if the Bulgarian socks are really big or little, or not very stretchy, like some cotton socks. Some socks are tall, others short -- we measure from heel to the top.
